A lecture on the somersault. Faire un tour sur soi-même is a very personal investigation about movement.

A one-man show halfway between an autobiographical account of twenty years of acrobatic practice and a lecture i.e. the accumulation of observations, images and philosophical, sociological and historical reading.

What is a somersault? What is it for? Where to see somersaults? How long have we been performing somersaults? These are some of the questions I will try to answer.

-> Faire un tour sur soi-même has won Artcena’s prize for the production of playwriting 2022 (Aide nationale à la création de textes dramatiques 2022).

Attempting a spectacular dialogue, two acrobats of the same size, weight, and age formulate interrogations:

What does the acrobat tell us? What can he teach us?

What does an acrobat tell us as he falls? How is he prepared to withstand gravity?

As he leaps through the air, does the acrobat dream of flying or falling?

What sort of relationship does he have with death?

With life? With risk-taking?

With fear of heights?

Marathon is a circus solo, a challenge that consists in performing alone in the ring. Running as a metaphor nurtures a need for solitude through extreme physical activity and repetitive action. The tenacity of a man to overcome an exhausted body pushed to its utmost limits. Body temperature rises, the heart beat accelerates, hands start shaking.

Panting for breath, fear and distress become manifest.
By dwelling on our childish heroic enthusiasms, Marathon puts to the testthe mutation of our dreams.

Cine Circo challenges the memory of a digitalising world, reviving the historical analogies between circus and film through Liberto an eccentric character, now an usher, then a popcorn seller and a projectionist, slightly disorganized, and Estrella his mite clumsy assistant.Circo Hechizo rejuvenates the early stage of cinema, refering to emblematic film directors who have common forebears with clowns (Chaplin, Keaton…).

 

Cine Circo is a multiple-sections project:
-> the show
-> workshops: including a workshop “creating on Celluloid”
-> cinema: a screening time, within the set space turned into a touring cinema, to be scheduled in close relationship with the area or the organiser of the event
-> news / advertisement: a participative audiovisual creation included in the show and renewed for each new location.
